Welcome!

I've finally caved & decided to start blogging. I hope I can keep it up-to-date. I'm totally addicted to cross stitching
(I've been told it's an old lady hobby, I guess that means I'm an old lady!) so there will be a lot of cross stitching posts.
There will be pictures of the kids, both 2-legged & 4-legged, Chase, Carter, Baby Hank, Bullseye, Molly, & Baby.
I hope you enjoy reading, I promise to try not to bore you too much. Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

A Day of Finishing

As the saying goes, you must finish what you start.... so here is what I spent today making......
Keep in mind as you're looking at these finishes, I do NOT sew!!! :)
Dogs Leave Paw Prints on Your Heart by Lizzie Kate. I used a heart shaped piece of plastic canvas that I bought at Wal-Mart, a 6-pack for 99 cents, and covered it with this piece. Used some dog paw print ribbon & hung it where the dogs water bowl is.
It's A Boy Thing by Lizzie Kate. I did three out of the four of them. I used some interfacing on the back to make them a little more sturdy. I found the coordinating green, red, & blue fabric at JoAnn's. Using a little new sew bonding & a hot iron I made them into a banner of sorts.
A Cup of Sparklers by SanMan Originals. I did the same thing with this one, making it in to a banner. I'm not sure yet where I'm going to hang this one, probably in my kitchen?
Spring by Hob Nobb. This one I also made in to a banner. It is hanging on the back side of my front door. I have the other three seasons yet to stitch & finish. They will all be finished the same way & hung on the door.
My final & most proud finish is this long banner with my 2008 Lizzie Kate Double Living Flips. When I started these words I couldn't decide how I wanted to finish them, I knew I didn't want to frame them, I'm too cheap. :) So I decided to do them as individual words. Then it was the question of HOW fo finish them...... I finally decided to make a banner. Okay, so I don't sew, I couldn't find ribbon that I liked or that was wide enough, so that left me with a big delima. I found the fabric that I like, very neutral. I started by cutting the strip long enough with 6" at the top & bottom & enough for 1" between each word. Then used the interfacing to make it more sturdy. Used my no sew to hold the back together & make the angels & voila..... a banner. The BEST part- the words are velcro'd on so as I finish the Halloween & Christmas ones, I can switch them out for the holidays. I do have to say, not to toot my own horn, but it's not too bad for winging it!!!

Grand Harbor Resort

For our next stop, we went to the waterpark. I think between Saturday & Sunday, the kids spent around 12 hours swimming!!!! They had a lot of fun.....

going down the waterslide with Dad and

playing on the snake.

I had a great time floating down the lazy river!

Here is the view of the mighty Mississippi from our room.

Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium

For Valentine's weekend we took the boys to Dubuque. On our first stop we saw.....

Big fish....

Cute turtles.....which I thought I wanted a pet turtle till Tim reminded me I'd have to clean out the tank. Then I decided that wouldn't be such a good idea.

Very, very, very cute sea otters..... Which came out to play & show off for us. I fell in love with them!

The worlds LARGEST lizzard.....
And Chase got to pet a Sturgeon.

A Week With Hank

I have been VERY lucky this week to have spent the week with Hank. His babysitter is on vacation so he got to come back to his old babysitters house!!!!! I've had a lot of fun with him. He is so much fun. And his laugh & smile make it all worth while, even when I'm dead dog tired.

Here is where Hank LOVES to sleep- my bed. I can usually get him to sleep in his bed till about midnight & then he wakes up hollaring for me. I toss him in bed with me, stick his pacifier back in his mouth, & back to sleep we go.

He LOVES his jumperoo!!!!! And I love the restraining device!

This morning we were working on sitting up like a big boy. He's getting there.... but he still falls over like a weeble wobble. I absolutely adore these expressions on his face. I'm tellin' ya' once this kid starts going we're going to be in for some MAJOR trouble!
